Oklahoma assistants Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell are now co-offensive coordinators for the Sooners. LINK

We know how that ended up working out at LSU with co-defensive coordinators. Wonder how it ends up working for Oklahoma.

Looks like Josh Heupel will call the plays, so what does Jay Norvell do as the co-offensive coordinator?

I'm pretty sure that Okalhoma had co-defensive coordinators for a long time as well.

I didn't realise Pelini was a co-defensive coordinator at Oklahoma before getting the DC job at LSU. LINK

Didn't Ohio St. at one time have co-defensive coordinators?

I believe it was before Sumlin left for Houston.

But for the past two years it has been Wilson/Norvell.

Wilson calling the plays.

Looks like Heupel is just taking over Wilson's role.

co-coordinators has worked before and sometimes pretty well. Miles just hired two guys in way over their heads.

Having co-coordinators wasn't the problem. the problem was that Mallory and Peveto sucked arse.

I'm not saying it's a great idea but I love how people think it universally doesn't work because ours didn't. Either of those two individually as DCs probably wouldn't have worked either.

Great idea Stoops...now you have no one in charge of your offense. Ever wonder why we don't elect co-Governors, why corporations don't have co-CEOs, why military units don't have co-Commanders....

BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK. Why don't coaches ever learn this.

it's rant logic. several good things in a row is easily explained away as luck but one bad thing ever is a trend or more accurately a law of physics that can never be broken.

It wasn't the Co-DCs that killed us...it was the fact that neither was capable of running a defense.
