Is anyone else now to the point where they want Orgeron at all costs?

I know coaching search processes can be costly at times for all schools in losing a few players that cycle. But, fading away late with Mack and Phillips amongst others, is disheartening.

I've really hit a point now, where whether LSU would've kept Chavis, promote Haley, hire Pendergast, Shoop,etc..

Bringing aboard Coach O has now taken on a lifeform of it's own to me, nearly as important as the DC. I've wanted some of his p!ss and vinegar at LSU for years now, and in the crowded SEC West and recruiting trails. I think his hire very necessary even with LSU landing yearly Top 10 classes(so do at least 4 other SEC..mostly West div teams)..the West div talent gap has greatly narrowed of recent.

I don't care who the DC is now, as long as O arrives in BR.

It's the only thing that would generate any kind of spark going into the offseason, and save this whole DC fiasco from being an underwhelming disaster.

Eta...I take some of that back...if Mills, and the two lineman stay, and we close in recruiting like it looks we're going to, there's some hope for the future.

Honestly I think most feel this way now. Unless a miracle happens and some big time coordinator just falls in our lap, might as well just do whatever works to get Orgeron here and then see where it all goes from there.

Two sides to this
One, the big time DL group for 16. We need a big time group in the 16 class and O could get that done without question.

Two, the other side. Say the DC, whoever it is, completely fails and we have to start over next winter. It would likely be better for us long term but could hurt in recruiting for 2 reasons. First, the DC would be involved with the recruits and him being fired or reassigned could have an effect on the kids. Secondly, what if a better opportunity comes along for Ed and he bolts? If he goes to a power program he could be a huge detriment to us going into signing day for the 16 class. He would have been recruiting all year and formed quite a bond with these major DL recruits and if he left they could follow. One thing Ed does is build strong relationships with these kids. If we hire him he has to have one hell of a buyout.

there are a couple of reasons you don't take into account for Orgeron going to LSU... he has a son already at LSU and working in the sports dept and also he has a son who is getting ready to go to college. These would be a stabiliziing force that would likely(imo), cause coach O to stay at LSU for maybe a few years , even until CLM retires and then maybe he can step up and be the HC if afforded the opportunity. One thing though, family is very important and I think he would like if he could, to be around his family more and LSU would provide the best scenario to that

He is not coming to LSU, not as long as CLM is here.

O has been saying he would love to coach at LSU and there's no legitimate speculation Miles is leaving anytime in the immediate future.

Of course he does, but that doesn't mean CLM wants him here. You will see when we make the DC hire there will be no mention of Orgeron at any position on this staff.

Orgeron is important no matter the hire.

Orgeron is a deal breaker if Haley is promoted.

Promoting Haley and ignoring Orgeron is a fire-able offense.

O could help save the 2016 class for the next head coach

At this point I would get rid of Brick, and replace him with Coach O and then bring someone new in as DC. If CP and Shoops are totally out of the picture, then hire an up and coming guy as DC, like a Bill Clark type of guy.
