.......be good for at this time of year. If in fact the contract has been on his desk since Friday, and if, in fact, he was in Bama for the Football Banquet over the weekend, then why no signature? Sure seems that no deal is quite counterproductive to Saban's present recruiting goals......there has to be more to this than "he hasn't had time to sign".

Hes on the recruiting trail hard right now. He's telling all the kids he's not leaving (which he might not be). Once its done, oh well. In his defense, pretty much how you have to handle it. Really no other way.

1. Money
2. Power
3. Recruiting
4. Winning
5. Family

The process.

This is the last week before a long dead period so he has to keep hot on the recruiting trail.

2 possible reasons

1. he's staying and continuing to do his job

2. hasn't made up his mind, but will continue recruiting, just in case he stays.

Well it helps that ESPN isn't saying hardly anything on the matter.

I tend to think it is the second option. I don't think he has any problem with lying to a kid about the kid's future (based on the kids that get turned away on signing day), and we know he doesn't mind lying about changing jobs. Most likely, he is just using this for some concessions (as well as money) from Alabama.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these rumors originated in a sports talent agent's office in Memphis.

Still, it has to be pissing Bama Admin off as a counterproductive move for their efforts to bring talent in for 2014 and beyond...even though it would take a big hit to make a difference in the level of talent going there this year.

...because Saban will need recruits at Teaxs. He can use PBJ's jet to meet and greet them. Plenty of time left to invite them to UT.

He's recruiting good players. He'll still want them if he's at Texas.

He's at least considering the TX job, because if he wasnt, he'd want to put those rumors to rest before they hindered any recruits. Either taht, or he's slow-playing Alabama for another raise.

I know when Saban was recruting at LSU, he'd use it to his advantage when other coaches would try to use that against him,his response would be well, what teams are trying to hire coach so-and-so?

That is why every recruit should commit to a school rather than a coach. All of them should ask themselves, what school would I rather attend if the coach leaves after 1 season.

You are correct, sir. I am much more worried about losing a great recruiting class if Coach Saban leaves than any other issue. The longer the delay, the fewer days available for a new staff to try to salvage what they can. Critical time.

Still think $aban is just trying to get more money from Bama. I think the Texas job is a bad fit

Why is it a bad fit. Great recruiting and a much better place to live. Only has to worry about OU, he will build another dynasty and become the first win a Natty at 3 different schools. GOAT legend secured.

I don't see how it is counterproductive. If anything all this has done is boost him in the public eye and make him the hottest topic.

He can use this as an example of how the media doesn't know him, and how those coaches negatively speaking recruiting him/Alabama are even more clueless.

He has an in-home visit with Leonard Fournette coming up. He'll just point at all the noise regarding him and use it to reinforce why he is the best in the business.

When he ends up staying all of that will be reinforced.
