Bielema only given a $600,000 raise. How did Jeff Long do it?

How on earth did Jeff Long convince a guy with elite job security and an established program to leave for a job of equal status where he has to play Bama, LSU, Auburn, aTm, and USC every year? He is in an infertile recruiting area in a division where every other team is sitting in a pool of 5 star talent. And on top of that, Arkansas will expect him to be just as good as Petrino and fired a coach who won the West twice.

What was Long selling that I don't see?

More money for assistants, better facilities.

Don't think Bielema is very familiar with recruiting

I feel like there had to be something in Wisconsin with the admin or something making him unhappy there. With Penn State getting hammered, Ohio State was the only other quality program left in his division. It is going to be much, much harder for him to win at Arkansas than it was at Wisconsin.

BB was looking at a void of talent on his football team. With Mich ok and Ohio St returning to dominance he figured he better get inked to another contract ASAP.

Fine, fine day for us. A lazy recruiter competing against Miles, Gundy, Flood, Saban, Brown, Stoops...hell even Mizzou is going to give him fits.

Couldnt be happier with this hire. For a change a team did a shite job.

Money to hire top assistants (something WI apparently wasn't willing to do), a great place to live, great/new facilities, coaching in the SEC, an opportunity to coach against the best and many others. Regardless of what some fans of other teams believe, Arkansas has a lot to offer a coach and family.

Urban scared him right out of the Conference. He will piss himself playing in the West.

Bielema obviously wasn't completely satisfied with his situation @ Wisco.

It's a nice place, but DWS is underwhelming to say the least. And of course the recruiting disadvantages have been well established.

Nobody thinks Arkansas is Kentucky, but come on you don't really think you have as much going for you as the big dogs, right?

You dickriders will take anything and run with it, regardless of known factual information.

Cementing LSU's reputation as the most delusional fanbase in the country.

It sounds to me like no one liked him up there, but they accepted him because the team was winning. The disconnect between Bielema and the fan base motivated him to look around.

If Ohio State's rise played any factor in leaving, he is a damn fool for going to a place like Arkansas.

Either way, great hire for Arkansas. I think he will be a solid coach that will always keep Arkansas competitive, but Arky fans are going to have to be realistic and be happy with 8-10 wins most years.
