Huck Finn is the most complete American novel ever.

Can't really debate it and my all time favorite.

Gatsby is pretty close.

would say The Odyssey or The Illiad, though i guess the latter gets the nod since it was first ... i've not read the Illiad ... listened to an unabridged version of the Osyssey once on two drives from houston to b'ham, narrated by ian mckellan ...

I always thought Heart of Darkness was incredible.

Hard to say what is the “best”. Too personal and would be argued for eternity.

The World According to Garp doesn’t get enough love and Irving is an underrated author. I haven’t read a “novel” in probably 20 years though. Not sure I have the patience anymore.

That's for goddamn sure.

Maybe not the greatest novel ever but an amazing read.

Also enjoy of human bondage and I'm a sucker for a farewell to arms

Literally an impossible question to answer.

I might be a little low brow for most of you, but for me I think it would be Moby Dick.

I've read The Last Good Kiss by James Crumley once a year going on almost three decades. May not be the best novel ever written but it's my all time favorite.

Damn, that's fairly obscure. I got drunk with him and his wife in Missoula right before he died.

Lonesime Dove would get my vote. I've probably read it 3 times.

I was genuinely pissed that it ended. Not the way it ended, but just that it was over.
