I love and have read the series multiple times. I'm currently reading them again. About to hit the slog through the middle though.
I also have loved the show. Season 2 has been great.
But I've also really enjoyed The Witcher and Rings of Power. I think most of yall really dont understand what adaptation and "based on the books by..." means
There's going to be significant changes. Just try to treat it as a separate but related thing.

To me it never means undermining core themes or narrative to subvert what made the series popular in the first place.

Why would you call it "Wheel of Time", if it was a separate, loosely related thing?

The Dragon being female would have been dismissed as nonsense to anyone with an inkling of knowledge.
I’ve read a Jordan Q&A in which he has said that there have been female dragons before when necessary. That my was pretty much all he said though. I would imagine in that world that Saidar would have been tainted and males would’ve been that world’s Aes Sedai though. Not like in the nonsense lore of the show.

And that makes sense.
with each turning the realities are different, and especially in light of the multiverse angle, you got to figure pretty much every iteration has occurred.
The show would have been granted a lot more slack if it had chosen to tell a story from the same universe, but of a different turning. It might have even been interesting that way.
Upon seeing how the showrunners were gearing up, and anticipating disappointment by fans of the books, I believe sanderson, who was hired early on to be an advisor, encouraged readers to view the show that way.
He was a great deal more forgiving than I am inclined to be

That was my hope when I saw Sanderson say that it was just another turning of the wheel but it hasn’t turned out that way.

I'm watching the show more to fill a void, not because it's excellent. They provide enough detail that book readers can relate to but not enough for those needing it. The result is that they dissatisfy both groups. I enjoyed the books, but honestly, I can't recommend this to anyone.
