Just finished the Farseer Trilogy

Must say that I enjoyed the first two books (Assassin's Apprentice and Royal Assassin) and even the beginning of the third (Assassin's Quest). But the 3rd book in the series became very repetitive to me and wasn't an enjoyable read overall.
What did anyone else think about the this set.

That's about what I felt about it. I also just found the main character to be kinda unlikable much of the time. I finished the trilogy, but didn't have any desire to continue reading any of the other books set in the same world.

I read all of the “Farseer” books with Fitz as main character (didn’t read others set in same world). While I was reading them, they didn’t make me think that I was reading the best series ever, yet I kept picking up the next book in line and couldn’t put them down until I finished the 9th book.
When I finished, I looked back and thought wow, these characters are really going to stick with me for a long, long time and now i consider it one my top fantasy series I’ve ever read. Fitz, and ESPECIALLY the Fool are two of my favorite characters across any genre, now. The ending also made me feel very content. Usually I’m left disappointed or wanting more. Not here. It’s almost exactly how I would have written it if I had the chance.

Like you, I have read all 9 books. I can't quite put my finger on why, but i got more emotionally invested in the characters of these books than any other book or series I've read. Especially Fitz, the Fool, and Molly. Oh, and Nighteyes, of course.
These characters will stay with me for the rest of my life, I imagine.

I'm firmly convinced it's b/c they have a female author. Hobb is better at deep character development than any other fantasy author I've read, IMO. She has issues elsewhere, pacing in particular.

anyone looking for a series with fantastic pacing should look into the Riyria Revelations

That's kind of the way I read them. I thought the third book just kind of petered out. They should have gone into the dragons vs. raiders more and about the leader of the raiders etc.

I Just posted this in the thread about liked books that you didn't like:

Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, in fact, the whole damned trilogy.
I kept waiting for it to get good. It just got more and more depressing. Perhaps the assassination comes from her making her readers want to kill themselves.

I'm not sure if this is a popular opinion, but found the first two books to be very depressing and unenjoyable. I read the summary notes on the 3rd book, and was happy I skipped it.
With that said, I can see why people enjoy the books, but it's just not how I like to spend my time.

Reading Fool's Quest, Book #8 featuring Fitz and the Fool. Kinda sad about finishing the series soon.

Similar. My experience is clearly in the minority, but I got about halfway through the first book, and just never felt like I wanted to keep reading it. I found myself doing other things in the time that I would normally read. Figured I needed to switch it up.
Started reading Tigana, and have already found myself enjoying it more... Although its depressing seeing the kindle only get 1% closer to the finish after a morning of reading.
