I'd prefer to keep all discussion on TD

I used to listen to it regularly but haven't in a while.

I've decided I'm going to participate. I already have the book, so I started reading it last night.

Occupation: Back office employee in the Financial Services industry.

Not too late at all. We start Monday. There's a free copy of the book in both electronic and audio formats on the Economics in One Lesson Wikipedia page.

Started this book yesterday and it is not a bad read. Pretty easy but should bring about some interesting ideas.

The whole book may take 5 hours to read if that

All, just a reminder our next book will be Applied Economics by Thomas Sowell which we will begin on Monday. Go ahead and procure your books if you aren't going with the free online option posted earlier in this thread.

Just checking in. I'm halfway through and haven't come across many discussion-worthy passages. But there's so much familiar content, the author's influence on Sowell is evident.

I'll finish it by the end of the weekend.

Yes a lot of the Applied lessons are just the basic lesson with different context around it. We've kind of talked through that stuff already so agree the second half of the book hasn't been as discussion worthy. Still a great read, through. I'm sure we will have more discussion for the next book.

With Applied Economics being 60% through this week, it's time to think about our next selection. It looks like those participating regularly want to shift gears to the other side of the spectrum. Shall we go straight for the source material itself and read the Communist Manifesto next?

After Communist Manifesto, I suggest The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money by Keynes.

FYI I picked up the Penguin Classics edition with the 186 page introduction. That way we aren't just reading the relatively dry manifesto itself.

By the way, in the event no one else is around anymore feel free to jump on and off the train as you are able. I'm going to continue trucking along!

I'll still be around. Will definitely give the Manifesto a read.

I'm looking for a Kindle version and noticed they have several. Most versions seem to range from 30- 70 pages. Can that be right?

The intro you're going to read is many times longer than the actual book?
