And one of the stonemen on the tv show was the Lannister Uncle who was lost in Valyria looking for the family sword.

I think that when Aegon finally conquers King's Landing, Connington will know that something is off with this whole thing, particularly with Aegon. I think when Connington takes up his position as Hand of the King, he'll start reading letters sent from around the realm. He then picks up a letter from Jon Snow, and reads that the Wall has fallen to the Others and to send all troops to defend the realm. Connington is dismayed and shocked by the letter and takes it seriously, but becomes bitter that this was Ned Stark's bastard son, who made him lose the Battle of the Bells singlehandedly, and that his sister made him lose Rhaegar. But then he looks at Jon's name and finds it odd that they have the same name after his and Ned's history together, and then he think he figures it out: Jon is Rhaegar's rightful heir and son and he named him Jon to be a hint to Connington in case he died.

Connington goes off to kill Varys for the betrayal, but he begins to stumble and cough up blood. As he does this, Varys walks into the room and thanks Connington for his foolishness in helping House Blackfyre seat the rightful heir to the throne in Aegon. He then vows to Connington that he will wipe out the remaining Targaryens in Dany and Jon. Cannington then dies thinking he failed the man he loved and protected the wrong son that he named after him.

Dude, you just crack-potted all over yourself!

There has to be a reason that GRRM created the Blackfyre history, and what other major storyline can tie to the Blackfyres? I also don't think it is a coincidence that he is leading the Golden Company (which was founded by the Blackfyres).

Bloodraven also plays into all of that Blackfyre story with his loyalty to the Targaryens during that time.

I must've missed it.

And yeah, Bloodraven was definitely a curse on the Blackfyres, that's for sure.

I don't think the Blackfyre conspiracy is legit for this storyline. It's possible, like Tyrion being a Targaryen, but unlikely. GRRM has plenty of insigificant history throughout his stories. Oh, and I dig house Blackfyre. I just don't buy the Illyrio/Varys long con Blackfyre ressurection.

Even if he turns out not to be a Blackfyre (I very strongly believe he will though), I would still bet my house that he doesn't play into the final endgame. If he isn't Blackfyre, then he'll be killed off before he ever becomes a dragonrider or gains full control of the 7 kingdoms. The only way I will change my belief in that is if he is introduced on the show. There is no way that D & D would leave out a character that plays a significant roll in the endgame of the books.

I don't think he'll ride.

It's Dany, Jon, and Tyrion. As long as Bran is warged into the one Tyrion is on.

This is my new hope. I always thought Jon would ride a warged one, but I wanna see the little guy on one

Really no reason to post this other than I love the Hound's delivery of his lines. From when he tells her to look at him and then says "Stannis is a killer..." Love that shite

The world is built by killers

Someone from the Hodor thread made a good point about Greyscale
quote:

Remember the scene but may have missed some of what was said. What it physically does to someone infected is obvious and how easy it is to spread is also obvious, but did Stanis (or anyone else) ever mention what the disease does to the infected's mind/brain? Does it turn them into mindless zombie like killers also? Because the one's in this episode attacked a boat without warning and seemingly with a "kill everything" type of mindset.

With that said, I find it goes against GoT logic that anyone with this disease would just be shipped off to Valyria instead of being executed immediately.

Steal or rape or commit any crime? Cut off hands or mutilate as punishment or banish them to the wall. Often public execution is also allowed depending on the crime. Disobey an order from a superior (regardless if it's a military superior or someone just higher than you in the class system like a King/Queeen/Lord etc...)? Instant execution is acceptable. Desert a military post? Instant execution. A singer/jester or whatever doesn't entertain a tyrannical King properly? Mutilation or executed. And quite often the limbs or bodies of these executed are posted on the cities walls to remind everyone to keep their shite together. The point is that this world is filled with unjust killing, torture and other types of mutilation and it's accepted depending on the situation. Contract a disease that is instantly transmittable by the slightest touch and that can wipe out the entire worlds population in an extremely short time if an infected person happens to walk into a populated city? They have to be put to death to save the entire worlds population, right? Surely that would be accepted and understandable given the seriousness of this situation and considering all of the other reasons death is an acceptable solution, right? Nope - banish to a deserted city and cross your fingers they don't ever decide to leave and pray that some jackass doesn't travel to said deserted city (now filled with mindless, uncivilized, infected killers), get himself infected, and return back to civilization to infect everyone. Thanks Jorah.

I read that post the other day.

The thing is, why didn't people just end a leper's suffering back in the day? Instead they were just sent off to colonies. Greyscale is just ASOIAF world's version of leprosy.

And is he saying all the stuff in his long paragraph didn't happen in our world? With leprosy being around? Because to me it all just seems exactly parallel with what would have happened in the middle ages.
