Maybe that's where the final battle for the seven kingdoms will take place.

I feel bad for neglecting this thread as I lose myself in true detective.

You True Detective fanboys need to remember that Got starts in 47 days.

Anyway, check out this article:

GRRM has over 1000 pages written but "it'll be done when I'm done"

quote:

"It is great that so many people are eager for the next book and certainly these are the people who are paying my bills and allowing me to have a house across the street from my other house. But at the same time, sometimes I just wish they would stop pressuring me about it. It will be done when it's done. I'm working on it. I don't know what else I can say: I'm a slow writer, I've always been a slow writer, and these are gigantic books."

He says that he has written over a thousand pages and is still working on it.

...If George was such a slow writer then why were the first 3 books out within 4 years of each other, and the last 2 took 11 years??

I'll need to start seeing a therapist if the series is never completed...I'm going to go Cersei crazy if GRRM dies before he finishes ADoS. I'm going to be awake at night, thinking about all the possibilities/how I would finish the series.

You are truly obsessed.

If you finished it I know one thing that would certainly occur.

Well, could very well be. Maybe Tyrion and Jorah will get the swirl design tattooed on them in Meereen?

I'm going to be like Rust and go nuts trying to figure out how to end ASOIAF. Going to start requesting lemoncakes at my therapy sessions and making stick figure men out of them, since lemoncakes are to ASOIAF as Lone Star Beer is to TD.

Fan boys? I'm pretty sure I saw you in that thread.

If I wasn't so bogged down with other things I'd get my reread and notes finished. I'm hand writing them, so once done there I'll type and put them in PDF for all to share. That way I can quit neglecting this thread. I have this one theory I'm working on but not enough evidence to support it yet. But once I do I think I might have cracked ole George's code.

He won't be able to fit everything he wants into book 6 so he'll spill over into book 7 and add a book 8

Guaranteed.

Why would you need houses across the street from each other?

Probably so his fans get confused as to which house to go to to bitch at him about not having the books done on time.

He also bought and renovated a theater in Santa Fe over the past 2 years or so. He's been posting about it a lot on his blog about how he's been hosting weekly viewings of the past 3 seasons and having cast members present in person and on Skype. Plus he's having 3 showings of S4 E1 8 days before it premieres. Too bad New Mexico is too far away!

Maybe because with every 1000+ page book, he is adding in quite a few more details that must be taken into account in the editing of the next book a) to make sure there are as few continuity errors as possible, b) to make sure they everything makes sense in the rather specific narrative that he is concocting, and c) the pressure to not let the storyline be disappointing to his fans keeps ratcheting up.

If you haven't noticed, the fans of these books are a bit OCD when they come to picking them apart. I just hope that GRRM can still write the story he was always planning on writing before he had 50000+ fan theories crowding his mind.

If it's true that he has 1000 pages done, I don't see why 2015 can't be a possibility.

Also, I tend to disagree with this map:

Shouldn't Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arizona be Dorne?? And the rest of the South the Reach? No way should Mississippi be Dornish.

And I would flip where the Eyrie and Riverrun are located in the map.

Agreed 100%

The South is The Reach no doubt.

I always felt that the Dornish were Cajans that lived in the desert. I mean that's what I tell my Hodor friends. Bit yeah I agree as far as geography goes.

How can the Eyrie be on of the flattest parts of the country?

Storms End should be the southeast. The river lands should be along the Mississippi. The Eyrie should be the Rockies. Cali should be the Reach, I mean wine and produce. The North could stay where it is or switch with all of the northeast because Maine is glorified swampland anyways so that could be the Neck. The Rock could be the northwest because of the western cliffs. That's really all I got.
