That was way before Arthur Dayne, so you just squashed my theory right out of the gate. So much for the Gravedigger wielding Dawn. :tear:

This may have been answered already..... BUT.....

The Sword of the Morning has NOTHING to do with the faith. The Sword of the Morning is the title given to whover wields Dawn - The sword belongs to House Dayne. The head of the house gives the sword to who they choose as the greatest knight within their house that is worthy to wield the sword.

The Faith has nothing to do with Dawn or The SotM

One thing you have to remember - at the time being talked about Highgarden is ruled by the Gardners - not the Tyrells.

That was just in a response to a crackpot theory that the Faith Militant and the Daynes are somehow partners because of the similarity in their symbols.

I held the theory that Sandor would be the Faith's champion for a long time, but the more I think about it, the more I believe that is not the case. First if Sandor did join the Faith on the Quiet Isle, he will more than likely not be the same Sandor as before. It is said that the Hound is dead, so I don't believe they are going to send him to fight his brother to satisfy the hate that drove him for so long. I think it is very possible we never hear from Sandor again and he spends the rest of the series in silent reflection on the Quiet Isle. The Elder Brother was silent for 10 years before he began speaking, so I am not sure Sandor will be going anywhere anytime soon.

Also, if it is indeed Sandor who fights unGregor, what a freaking let down. One of them has to die. On one hand this bad arse abomination who we are expecting to wreak tons of havoc will die before doing shite. And on top of that, the villian (Cersei) who started all this shite will die with him. On the other hand, Holy Sandor, the second we realize he is alive and are all pumped about him finally getting revenge against his a-hole big brother, gets killed. As much as I hate Cersei and the Mountain, they need to win the trial. Let the champion be Lancel so we don't really care.

I think it's been pretty apparent in their present day interactions that they're not exactly fond of either other. Probably because of their similarities.

This - I believe Sandor will fight Strong, but later in the story.

I mean technically it is. They were stewards to House Gardener who frequently married "down" into House Tyrell and House Florent. They've always been in the Reach and fought with them and against Lannisters.

Dorne is obviously their bigger rivals though.

ETA: And just to reiterate the badasses in Dorne, I always like reading things like this. This occurred during the Young Dragon's conquest of Dorne with assistance from the Tyrells.

quote:

After the initial victory, Daeron appointed Lord Tyrell as governor of Dorne. Lord Tyrell liked Dornish women and one night he pulled the rope that would signal for a wench to come to his bed, and a hundred scorpions fell from the canopy instead. His death sparked new revolts, and the conquest was undone in a fortnight.

So. Bad. arse.

Dorne is so hit or miss for me. We have stories like this along with heroes like the Red Viper and Darkstar and then we get stuck reading of a time where the major players are Doran, Prince Gout, and Quentyn, the great dragon tamer. I am hoping their allegiance with Aegon will bring about some actions that live up to the Dornish history.

Meh. You can have too much awesome (which leads to crazy, see the Targs) so Dorne has a nice balance to offset some of the batshit they have going for them.

Definitely. I am just ready for Dorne to be released. Doran in power is really hindering their impact on Westeros. The Red Viper is dead and the Sand Snakes are caged. It is time for them to enter the fight. As it stands now, they are a bunch of so called bad asses because their ruler is making them sit on the sidelines. More than anything I am ready for Darkstar to wreck shite. He intrigues me as much as anybody in the Song.
