The scene right before was her looking at the tower, her duty is to save Sansa. His last words are "do your duty". I found it obvious that she was conflicted.

Conflicted on what? That was her duty. It's done. There's nothing else to do. There's her justice. Boom. Done. Over. Stannis is dead.

And if he's alive he's a cripple in the woods with no army and Pod and Brienne to protect him (which based on the previews they have no such duty of doing since they end up in the riverlands) and they have to escape the Bolton army

Her duty was to Sansa and protecting her and waiting and watching. Not scouring the battlefield attempting to avenge Renly.

Why can't she have both? Holding Stannis's cripple arse alive hinders her ability to protect Sansa. He's already right there. It doesn't stop her from killing him.

The Hound is definitely only presumed dead in both

The Elder Brother-

"The Hound died there, in my arms."
“The Hound is dead, Sandor is at rest.”
“The man you hunt is dead, buried him and placed his Hound Helm on top of his grave."

Now I would like to see the guy who dug his grave.

In the show she can do anything-

She whoop Loras' arse in the Stormlands
Fight Jamie to a draw in the Riverlands.
Hang out with the new Queen in King's Landing.
Kill the Hound in the Vale.
Kill Stannis north of Winterfell.
And that's with her not having a horse for half the show.

To be fair, that was the only thing which was an actual accomplishment against a guy at full strength.

Isn't there a running list of where all the Valaryian steel blades are at?

Watching hard home and it leaked my interest

The elder brother is in this season, and has confirmed in an interview that he is with a beloved character who is presumed dead.

In the books, there is a giant man who doesn't speak with the elder brother. The persona that is the hound is dead, Sandor is at peace and has become a holy monk. It is known.

She has no duty to kill Stannis. That is vengeance, not justice. It just doesn't fit her character. Her duty is to save Sansa, when Stannis told her to "do her duty", it probably hit her like a truck that she in fact wasn't doing said duty.

She is carrying a sword named Oathkeeper for gods sake. Her entire plot is currently focused on duty.

I won't be disappointed, I'll just chalk it up to poor writing. I guess they already have the world's greatest commander, looking completely incompetent, charging a fortress across an open field with zero scouts though.

The frick? She was sworn to protect Renly and she knows it was Stannis that killed him. That's another oath she took too. One she got just revenge for. The Mannis is dead bro.

You missed the point of that whole ordeal. He was all in at that point, there was no going back from there. No scouts, no men, no mel, it didnt matter. He went for it all because he had to. He foreshadowed this to Davvos earlier in season 5

Her duty to a traitor? Not to mention she has no proof that Stannis actually killed him. Renly had no claim, her duty is to Cat to save Sansa. That's why she carries the sword, to fulfil the duty of both her and Jamie, it has nothing to do with vengeance against Stannis.

I understand what they were doing, I still think it was pretty weak though.

Still waiting Sansa's signal, Brienne is warned by Podrick of the arrival of Stannis and what is left of his army. She reluctantly abandons her mission of saving Sansa, with the candle in the tower being lit by Sansa just a few seconds after Brienne leaves. After the battle, which resulted in the complete annihilation of the remainder of Stannis' army, Brienne finds Stannis wounded in the Wolfswood. Stannis takes her for a woman fighting for the Boltons, but Brienne tells him her name and real allegiance. Stannis confesses his involvement in the assassination of his younger brother Renly, who Brienne had sworn to protect as member of his kingsguard. Brienne draws her sword and sentences Stannis to death. When asked for any last words, Stannis urges Brienne to do her duty, after which she executes him with a single stroke.[28]
