I don't get it. Isn't 22 F about standard for most typical winter areas?
Sochi temps were well above 22F....frequently above freezing. This caused the snow on parts of the ski runs to start to melt. So the tops of the runs were icy and more solid while the conditions worsened as the skiers went down the courses. Skiers don't like that. They want consistent snow the entire length of their runs. There was a lot of talk about the ski conditions this Olympics.
