The Tuohy family says before Michael Oher made "outlandish," "hurtful" and "absurd" claims about them in court on Monday, he actually tried to shake them down for $15 million...
quote:

Marty Singer -- the Tuohy family attorney -- said it all happened recently ... and, what's worse, he claimed this is not the first time Oher has done this.

Singer -- in a lengthy statement to TMZ Sports -- said Oher came to the Tuohys prior to filing his 14-page petition in Shelby County, Tenn. ... and threatened them, saying if they didn't pony up an eight-figure check, he'd "plant a negative story about them in the press."

Once again hyperbole by the press. It's not a shakedown. Its a demand and its required as a condition precedent to either filing suit and or recovering attorney's fees in many jurisdictions. How dare they seek to settle the matter without filing a suit which would be public record and in the press as has happened. Good example of their lawyer misrepresenting what likley happened and litigating this in the court of public opinion. Larry Leo once again you are the worst.

This story mirrors my life situation without the NFL of a black friend we took in. No father, mother was murdered at 15. All 3 brothers in prison. We gave him his first christmas. He lived with us. My dad paid his moms bills. We helped community round up and pay for a lot of his university education. His childhood was so rough that he's become schizo and thinks we're evil people. Just ungratefulness. Has engineering technology degree but working at a Lowe's. I sometimes think it'd be better to have let him go his own route instead of intervening at 10 yr old.

There's a trend to this. We saw it, to a degree, with Colin K. He also turned on the family that took him in and loved him when no one else would. People are tribal, even when the tribe rejects them they never give up on returning

I'm sure someone on Mike's team seems to think this is good idea, but it sure looks bad for all involved...sad situation!

Hope he gets every penny. They showed their true colors when they gave all the proceeds from the movie to their two biological children and cut him out.
