Spurrier Calls Out Saban On Scheduling

South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier called out Nick Saban on his true reason for recently being the only SEC head coach to vote for a nine-conference game format.
quote:

“Nick Saban wants nine games, well he can have nine and be happy,” Spurrier told the Sporting News. “Yep, nine games against conference opponents — but one of them won’t count, that’s all.”
Spurrier is referring to the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry game, which the SEC wants to keep, along with Georgia-Auburn. He’s implying that one of the reasons Saban wants to keep it is that it’s a favorable game in the Crimson Tide’s schedule every year.
quote:

“Yep, and guess who played in the (SEC) championship game?” Spurrier said. “Scheduling is so important nowadays. But for some reason, we don’t want to acknowledge that. We don’t want to talk about that.”

If he's referring to the "do over" game that would be quite ironic considering he got a rematch for the national title against the SAME team that BEAT him in the FINAL regular season game that 1996 year and won it. That would be the definition, example and end all be all of hypocrisy. Though coming from him, meh, I wouldn't be surprised.

Who cares? Bama and UT nor AU and UGA will play non conference against conference teams. That's silly and makes no sense. They will play conference or wont play. Simple as that.

Spurrier is right. Saban's ace is Tennessee. Looks like a big game, used to be a big game, but in modern times is not much different than playing Kentucky. Only maybe safer. UK can be rough, even when they lose.
