NFL Draft Scout Prefers OSU RB Ezekiel Elliott Over Derrick Henry
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports
Alabama RB Derrick Henry is coming off winning the Heisman Trophy this past weekend, but according to NFL.com‘s Albert Breer, NFL scouts find Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott more appealing...
quote:

In any case, he’s not in the class of a Todd Gurley or a Leonard Fournette as a projection, and likely won’t be seen as quite as good, in that regard, as Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott. The area scout put it this way: “Elliott can create on his own, [Henry] can’t.” So as big and fast and freakish as Henry may look, because his game would be limited if he were to land in an offense that demands more out of backs in the passing game, his ability doesn’t translate as well as it may seem it would on TV.
NFL Scout Dan Hatman even went on to tell Jacksonville.com that he thinks Henry is a 4th round pick...
quote:

Asked what round he would consider drafting Henry, Hatman said not in the top 21/2 to 3 rounds. Several mock drafts have Henry rated higher, some as a late first-round pick.

“I think in the Nos. 100-150 range — basically the fourth round,” he said. “I’m a little biased because I don’t value running backs highly. There are too many guys who have been drafted in the sixth round or later — or not drafted at all — and been functional.”
It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes down come NFL Draft day, but what do you think?

Henry has had a phenomenal year but he's not an NFL back.

4th round for LeadFoot sounds about right.

I am so sick and tired of seeing Elliot's stomach. Can the NCAA please do something about this?

Yes, yes, I know. Jerald Hawkins does it too. I still don't like it.

Henry's 40 and shuttle times will arguably seem impressive given his size, but they will be some of the worst among all running backs at the Combine.

Elliot is a piece of shite who doesn't care about the team.

Elliot is a complete back with size, speed, shake, and quickness. He also can catch and pass block like a pro.

This isn't unexpected.
