Ross Dellenger with Sports Illustrated is reporting that former LSU coach Les Miles is finalizing a deal with Kansas to be the teams new head coach.
quote:

Kansas is finalizing a deal to make Les Miles the new leader of the Jayhawks football program, multiple sources told Sports Illustrated. An announcement could come as soon as this weekend. Kansas athletic director Jeff Long and Miles both did not return requests for comment. Barring a last-minute change, the 65-year-old Miles, the quirky, grass-eating former LSU coach, will be in charge of restoring respectability to a Big 12 cellar-dweller that hasn’t had a winning season in a decade. He replaces fired coach David Beaty, taking his championship swagger, oddly positioned ball cap and unusual vernacular to one of the nation’s most struggling programs.
The news comes just one day after LSU and Miles agreed to a final buyout settlement, playing the former coach a one-time lump sum payment of $1.5 million of the $6.5 remaining in the original agreement.

Hopefully he takes Ensminger so it'll force O and Alleva to have to go out and hire a real OC

Put it this way. This Kansas deal is and was done. Les doesn’t take a lump sum of $1.5m instead of $6.5m over the next 4 years unless he knows the other $5m (at least) is already a done deal.

Less will kill it in the big 12. They've never seen that style of football. It's going to drive them nuts. Limit the possessions and all of those high powered offenses won't ever touch the ball.

>They've never seen that style of football Seriously? The Big 12 used to be all about four yards and a cloud of dust, it's only in the last ten years or so that this changed. CLM will do fine but he only has a few years left in him to right the ship and then hand it off to the next guy. A good hire by Kansas to bring in someone who will get the right culture in place and show his successor how to run a program.

>They've never seen that style of football<... yes, yes they have. He ran his style when he coached O-State just before we poached him to LSU. He didn't run the high flying Gundy offense- it was run heavy with average QB play. And it was quite effective. He split wins with Bob Stoops and his powerhouse Sooner squads of the early 2000's. Les will be a nightmare for the Big 12 once he gets a couple good recruiting cycles under his belt. The big 12 is not defensively equipped to handle the complex running and blocking schemes of the Miles offense. The man landed in a good spot where he will have plenty of wiggle room. And I'm damn happy for him.
