Former LSU quarterback Justin McMillan has been reportedly blocked from transferring to SEC schools and any teams that are currently on the Tigers schedule for the next two years. Per The Advocate:
quote:

McMillan said he was informed Wednesday by an SEC school, which he would not disclose, that his recruitment had been halted because of the block.

McMillan said he "knew he was going to get blocked from the SEC West," but he thought he was under the impression he might play for other SEC schools.

McMillan’s transfer release document from LSU, obtained by The Advocate Wednesday, blocked McMillan from transferring to schools “in the SEC and those on (LSU’s) current schedule the next two years.”
McMillan graduated from LSU this summer making him eligible immediately with two seasons left to play.

That's wrong. Kid should be allowed to play wherever he has a chance to make the NFL. If he wasn't good enough to play at LSU what are they worried about?

Okay first off he will never make the NFL. Second, it makes no sense to allow a transfer to a school LSU may play. The kid knows the whole playbook for goodness sakes.

Yeah I didn't really think about the whole playbook thing, makes sense now.

"Okay first off he will never make the NFL. Second, it makes no sense to allow a transfer to a school LSU may play. The kid knows the whole playbook for goodness sakes." I am pretty sure you said the same thing about Danny Etling at some point too!!! And from what you hear the playbook is TRASH anyway.... Lmao

Pretty pathetic to block the kid from transferring anywhere after he put in 3 years and just wants the opportunity to be the guy somewhere. There are instances when blocking someone from transferring to a particular school is warranted, but this is certainly not one of them.

So he can tell them exactly what LSU is doing offensively? Idt so, his loss. Go play somewhere that has no chance of playing LSU.

Yes, then when the playbook goes out to the SEC, all the naysayers would be on Coach O's back for letting it happen. Also, Justin gave no thanks to the current staff on the way out the door, so he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Don't expect favors for that, though. Be grateful. He got an education in school and on the field.

He chose to leave. He knew this was a possibility. He made his choice, LSU made theirs. Welcome to the real world kid.

He had a free education that he will always have! that is part of the deal!

Why should LSU develop him for 3 years to give to a rival?

It would not be smart for LSU to let someone who knows their entire playbook go to another SEC school.

Coaches are allowed to do precisely that all the time. It comes off as hypocritical

So Vandy, S Car or Florida.... So we blocked him from going to Vanderbilt. Sheesh.

If it was Vandy or Kentucky, I don't see why they just didn't let him go.

Vandy has one of the better QBs in the league. McMillan wouldn’t start there

He graduated. Therefore, he should be able to sign with any team he wants.

I don't see anything wrong with LSU blocking him from other SEC schools and teams on their schedule for 2 years. It gives the competition access to our playbook and can be used against us. He can go to plenty other schools outside the SEC and be successful. After the way he shunned the current coaches in his departure statement, who's to say he can be trusted? Good on LSU. Good luck to him elsewhere.

It's pretty typical to block transfers to a team in conference, but for Joe Burrow, Ohio State did not block transfer to an OOC opponent on the upcoming schedule. Cincinnati plays OSU in 2019 and Burrow could have returned to Ohio Stadium as their QB had he gone there, which I think might have been a plus to him.

You think that wasn't a business move by Meyer? Throw as much competition at the SEC West as he can. Imagine a Playoff with Alabama not waltzing into it every year.

Its a business decision by both parties. It is too close to the season to have one of your QB's go to a competitor in the SEC. There are to many competitive advantages you surrender by letting that happen. There are a hundred plus other teams he can go to.

Maybe McMillan has the secret Les Miles playbook some of y’all are scared to reveal. Get a clue.

Come on dude did you really think you were going to leave LSU high and dry and transfer to an SEC school? What an idiot.

Get Orgeron the hell out of there. One of the best teams in the last decade can’t hire a legit coach???????
user avatar

The biggest joke would be if we blocked Orgeron from and SEC school. Who would hire him anyways????

The bigger joke is that you reply to your own post and are probably one of the two upvotes on both of your posts.

McMillan made a business decision, just like LSU did. Got no issues with this.

What some of you don't get is that if a player is allowed to just freely transfer with no restrictions at all then there is no way to prevent continual recruiting of players after they have signed with a school. In fact have axsigning day at all if a player has continuous freedom to just pick up and leave to go elsewhere? You have a school like Bama cherry picking every team in the SEC and they would do it.

Yes, he graduated, on LSU's dime. LSU has invested thousands of dollars into McMillan and reserves the right to restrict where he goes.
user avatar

Duh. Besides, where would he even start? And wouldn’t it be smarter for him to go somewhere like La Tech or a conference with a little less competition?
