Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said Thursday that freshman offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles will start at right tackle in place of Toby Weathersby who is dealing with some sort of an injury.

Orgeron listed Weatherby as questionable for Saturday's game. Per The Advocate:
quote:

Ed Ingram, a freshman, is LSU's starting right guard, giving the unranked Tigers (3-2, 0-1 SEC) a rookie right side for a second straight week - this time on the road in the Southeastern Conference. It was the first time in at least 30 years that LSU started two true freshmen on the line last week.

"Did good. Made some mistakes obviously, but so did everybody else," Orgeron said of Charles' start last week.

why not Deculus? is he really not better than Charles at T? i mean, c'mon man... we are playing fricking guards at tackle, when every other team in existence at pretty much every level does the exact opposite... but he talks like us....

Maybe using freshmen that grimes hasn’t “coached” will be an improvement...

Just a reason for excuses. What do you expect O? You ran off experience or was too stupid to keep an eye on their off the field issues ie grades in the spring. What are you doing??

The good news??? Maybe the O line will be better in 2018 because young guys are gaining experience, but Deculus absolutely has to develop into a starter by then.

Agree 100%. Deculus really needs to develop into a beast!

What difference does it make as long as Grimes is oline coach? One lineman is as bad as the net. They're still going to get pushed into the backfield every snap!!!

Obviously Deculus was over rated.

Why does O hate pronouns?

What's with this pining for Deculus? So many have made him the next great lineman when the other linemen in his freshman class are and have always been ahead of him on the debth chart. Why not give them some credit for their hard work? It not a slight against Deculus that there were better linemen in his class. They were highly rated as well. For some reason many anointed him greatness and overlooked the other freshmen O-linemen.

That’s right. You don’t just show up and start, based on what you did in HS. You have to earn it. Hopefully, in time, he will.
