Is it safe to assume every fertile doe gets impregnated? If so I'm with you guys, you can never shoot enough does. Other than yearling does, most will have twins, if you killed half the does on an area, the population would keep the current levels. No way you end up killing half of them ...
This makes no sense.
It does make since. It's also just my opinion. I shoot does as early as possible. After they have been "fertilized" they could possibly be carrying 2 fawns. So in turn you kill 3. Again, just my opinion. However if someone chooses to shoot their does late ...
Well my philosophy is: the heck with the future buck, if she goes into heat we've got a this years buck. Besides, we have plenty does running around.
It's not just about the doe or the trophy. I can't justify shooting a doe after the rut because you shoot one and possible kill 3...
Just because of freezer space or amount you consume?
I shoot 3 to 4 deer a year. We eat 3 to 4 deer a year. I don't shoot more then I eat or if someone I know whats one, and I know they will eat it, I will shoot them one. If we ate more I would buy another freezer. I can kill,...
That gun is capable of shooting much better than that. If you'd like to get the groups smaller you may want to try some different bullets. 2" is plenty good enough for deer hunting though.
Oh yes I am sure the gun is capable of much better shooting and as you mentioned differen...

Yes it is. Shop around good before you buy one. I have the handi-rifle and love it. The single shot is very accurate too(zero moving parts). I put 3 shots in a 2 inch group at 100 yards a couple weeks ago. That's not bad for a big round like that....

Hornady came out with a 45-70 round that is something like a 225 grain bullet apposed to the 325 grain bullet. This should have a little less recoil and add some more distance capability. I haven't seen them in stores this year but should be coming out soon(they are on the Hornady website). The 45-7...

If this thread was intended for real conversation I'm headed to MS to hunt for the first time. My brother-in-law joined a lease this year. Really looking forward to being in MS and hunting hard for 4 days starting on Saturday. I hope to see some deer and hopefully get a shot at a decent buck. ...
