There is absolutely no way a kid would want to play closer to home when another school is offering him atm cards and slot machine winnings on top of a pay check.
Even if he knew he was going to get more playing time, be more productive, and be on a team that would compete to ...

It's not OK but if the school does not pay, it receives no advantage. If Kid is innocent how did he benefit?
If shopped and the school pays or agrees to pay their toast. If player receives benefit he's toast.
