Mortgage Calculator + Extra Principal Question - LAmagnolia
Hola, I refi'd my house in 2009 with about $98,000 left on the principal. Since the refi started, I've been putting in an extra principal payment of $135 each month, which will cut this down to a 20-year mortgage, ending in 2029. However - if I would now like to start increasing the extra p...

re: Anyone here have a AAA membership? - LAmagnolia
How good is their roadside service? Thinking about getting for my Dad who is up in age and would be helpless if he broke down on the road somewhere
Just make sure you choose the AAA Plus option, which is $74 per year. You get 4 tows per year, each of them up to 100 miles. It ...

re: Reimbursement For Pothole Damage To Vehicle In NOLA - Anyone Ever Succeeded? - LAmagnolia
Are you sure it was a motor mount though? A motor mount usually only breaks when the rubber on the mount has started to wear down or if the vehicle was in a violent wreck. Usually pot holes kill ball joints and tie-rod ends
Unfortunately, yeah - car is very noisy/vibrating. I looke...

re: Reimbursement For Pothole Damage To Vehicle In NOLA - Anyone Ever Succeeded? - LAmagnolia
So you had time to slow down and go over it, but it didn't cross your mind to steer around it?
It was actually filled with some kind of manhole cover on top of it. I've carefully driven over those a thousand times. You're also assuming that the area around it was better to drive...

Reimbursement For Pothole Damage To Vehicle In NOLA - Anyone Ever Succeeded? - LAmagnolia
Has anyone here ever filed a claim with City Hall in New Orleans for damage to their vehicle caused by potholes, etc. and been reimbursed? I slowly drove over something in Lakeview that broke one of my freaking motor mounts! Obviously no one on the OT needs the money, but this would be don...

Jefferson Parish Council Wants "Do-Over" Voting??! - LAmagnolia
I'm asking this question sincerely - if JP's voters voted "NO" for all of the tax increases (or continuations) on Saturday's ballot, how exactly is it possible to have another round of voting? http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/05/jefferson_parish_may_go_back_t.html Any explanation is...

re: Refinancing To 15-Year...Should I Take The Plunge? - LAmagnolia
I refinanced my mortgage with them - went from a 15 year loan at 4.375 % to a 15 year loan at 2.875 % about 6 months ago. No issues whatsoever with NPF - highly recommend them, plus their fees are VERY minimal.
Thanx for mentioning this. I just hope it isn't costly to get the re...

re: Refinancing To 15-Year...Should I Take The Plunge? - LAmagnolia
Well, let me ask you in this way - if the regular standard deduction actually (as of last year) benefits me more than itemizing, shouldn't I just focus on getting a better rate while also paying it off earlier?...

re: Refinancing To 15-Year...Should I Take The Plunge? - LAmagnolia
Part of what concerns me is if a lender tries to charge a hefty fee for not having escrow... New Penn Financial is one place I've read about that supposedly offers roughly 2.9% with no points. Anybody have any experience with them?...
