re: name a NFL team that Bama could honestly beat
Posted by dirtymoney on 10/9/12 at 12:46 pm
None, not even the worst NFL team in NFL history.
I don't know, they might could beat the 1920 Muncie Flyers. They lost the only NFL game they played that year 45-0. Plus those guys are all DEAD now....
re: Spurrier up for UF Prez gig
He also led the greatest down fall.
I'd give that award to Galen Hall. Or maybe Doug Dickey. Get some perspective....
Where is Urban Meyer on that list? He has two national championships compared to Spurrier's one
Urban > Steve. Although most Gators are too butthurt to admit it. It is painful seeing him as a Buckeye, but he led the greatest run in Florida history....
re: Who else does NOT want Aggies in the SEC?
Posted by dirtymoney on 8/14/11 at 12:53 am
I don't hate the idea, but 12 teams has been working pretty well for us. I'm hoping that an SEC expansion will bring about a playoff sooner rather than later, which would be great for all of us. But if we just go to 14 teams and nothing else happens, that wouldn't be so great....
re: NC STATE
Posted by dirtymoney on 8/13/11 at 11:55 pm
I like 'em. Assuming we couldn't get Va Tech or UNC. It expands the conference into fertile recruiting territory and gives us a team that is usually good but not so great they make it impossible to win. In other words, they are the eastern equivalent of A&M....
re: Why are people saying aTm is running from the Big 12?

If by people you mean ESPN, it's because the University of Texas is now a wholly owned subsidiary of ESPN....

I was going to say it's silly to be scared of UAB and Troy, but then I remembered what happens when you guys play Southern Miss or UCF or Louisiana-Monroe....
re: what is it like to root for a terrible team?

SEC football teams by last losing season:
Georgia: 2010
Tennessee: 2010
Kentucky: 2010
Vanderbilt: 2010
Mississippi: 2010
Miss State: 2009
Auburn: 2008
Arkansas: 2008
Alabama: 2006
South Carolina: 2003
LSU: 1999
Florida: 1979
So there's another great goal to fight for - remaining at...

I think this will be a fun season for the Gators. First of all, college football is always fun. If you aren't having fun, you are doing something wrong. Of course, we probably will not be national championship contenders. But we definitely have a shot at winning the East. We'll be underdogs, but the...
re: Can you name all the BCS teams?
Posted by dirtymoney on 5/8/11 at 3:40 pm
Got 'em all. It helped that the Gators have played Cincy, Maryland, and Syracuse, because I might have otherwise missed them. And I just barely came up with Louisville before time ran out....

I've heard the NIBROC festival is amazing.

At 95% of schools, nobody gives a shite about baseball either. Women's basketball gets more national attention than baseball doe...
re: Why didnt Charlie Strong get the Florida job?
Posted by dirtymoney on 3/5/11 at 8:29 pm
Really though, Strong was nothing special. The only thing he proved was that he could take 5 star talent and usually turn it into solid defense. About what you would expect. Nothing more, nothing special.
I vehemently disagree with this. Charlie Strong was one of the best defensive...
re: Why didnt Charlie Strong get the Florida job?
Posted by dirtymoney on 3/5/11 at 8:05 pm
Didnt he hire ron zook?
I would argue that Ron Zook was our best available option that year. Spurrier left very late and there was not a lot of time to find a superstar coach. I don't know who else was available at the time, but we went after some top names (Stoops and Shanahan) an...
re: Why didnt Charlie Strong get the Florida job?
Posted by dirtymoney on 3/5/11 at 7:56 pm
I'm sure your question is not serious, but the serious answer is that Jeremy Foley thought Will Muschamp was the best available coach. He knows more about these things than any of us....
re: How far does Florida make it in NCAA tourney?
Posted by dirtymoney on 3/5/11 at 7:54 pm
I think this board has it about right. It could go any which way. I do not think this team is anywhere near the 04's were, but if they keep getting better and play at the top of their game for a few games, I would not be shocked to see them in the Final Four. But one bad night and they could lose to...
Here's why Tim Higgins is trending...
That is idiotic. Just because his foot was not on the line at one point doesn't mean it never was. He clearly stepped on the line. I thought Grant was complaining that he got pushed out of bounds, but I was watching without sound. But people w...

Yeah, that's why he's only been caught twice and only had two out of two Final Four appearances vacated due to cheating....
re: Will Bama make the NCAA Tourney
Posted by dirtymoney on 2/9/11 at 12:45 am
No SEC regular season champ has failed to make the Tourney since it expanded to 32 in 1975- and it wont happen this year either
True, but there has never been such an unbalanced year in the SEC. I could definitely see a scenario where Bama wins the regular season title outright, bu...

During the five seasons before this one, the Gators had as many National Titles as wins over Tennessee (2). During that same time we had a seven game win...
