re: Georgia proposes SEC ban transfers already booted for assault/domestic violence - jdevers
You are right, they should be eligible to play football. They can go to a D2 school or just hope for the best at the draft. Professional athletics is a profession, they have a set of rules of conduct that is somewhat variable based on your abilities to produce money. Just like most other professi...

re: Georgia proposes SEC ban transfers already booted for assault/domestic violence - jdevers
Good start. Honestly though it should be changed to read anyone kicked off a team for ANY illegality. I know there are lots of minor crimes, but people aren't kicked off of teams or out of school for them. Collegiate athletics is a privilege and the players are adults. Junior high and high sch...

re: Most impressive/fun to watch SEC offensive & defensive player all-time - jdevers
Steve Atwater
Thanks for that blast from the past! Not the playmaker compared to many modern safeties, but the man brought the pain. Few could turn the momentum of a game with just a tackle like he could. I'll pick since 1992 since the SEC was just a bunch of country bumpkins...

re: Phil Steele's Top 7 OL Units in CFB - jdevers
The stat is meaningless for us, but not because of the run/pass ratio. It is meaningless because Brandon Allen doesn't get sacked very often, he throws the all away (like he has been coached to do) very well. About the only time he get sacked is when the play is just blown up very quickly or he is...

I watched all but two of those games, I was a couple years from being born for the 1966 game and I have heard about it for most of my life from older relatives....

re: Who is the best team that your team has beaten in the modern era? - jdevers
To hell with LSU and the ending of our 22 game winning streak in the 1966 Cotton Bowland cost us back to back national championships. For us: #1 LSU 2006 #1 Texas 1966 #1 Texas 1981 #2 OU 1978 #3 Tennessee 1999(that team finished with three losses, but was loaded with talent) #2 UGA 1968 ...

re: Quick Poll: Robert Nkemdiche overhyped or nah? - jdevers
Every top overall recruit in each class gets gets huge amount of press even when they are good but not great. RN is the same way, he is a solid DE and will probably get drafted in the first round for the same measurable that put him at the top of the recruiting lists. He isn't nearly the best DE i...

re: What is the first opponent to really devastate Arkansas this year? - jdevers
Fail? Hell you proved his case for him better than he did. 2012: 2 starters not recruited by Sherman one of which was a kicker 2013:3 starters not recruited by Sherman one of which was a kicker Manziel was a Sherman recruit. [link=( )]http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/headl...
2008 Cotton Bowl.
Might want to put that in context before you buy your Super Bowl ring. Nutt wasn't a great coach by any definition, but he was much better than Reggie Herring. Also since he was a rah rah type players coach and they had already played the "win one for the Gippe...

1978 OrangeBowl against Oklahoma. If they had won, they would have been unanimous national champions almost certainly. They were heavily favored by 18 points when the matchup was announced, but then we suspended three players including our starting running backs who had accounted for 78% of our poi...

re: Can anyone other than LSU compete with AU this year? - jdevers
For LSU the question is when does the team just quit. You know, the point when the defense realizes it is carrying the team and unless they pitch a shutout the cause is often lost. Will this be the random dud year Malzahn seems to have where many of the puzzle pieces are present and they play ve...

I see a few LSU fans at ours every year, but they are mostly the same people that go to a lot of our games. Locals who are LSU fans but enjoy watching football in general I imagine...sure wish we could talk them out of wearing purple and gold for the non LSU home games though. Last year I'm pre...

re: Who Are Some Criminally Underrated SEC Players of the Past/Present? - jdevers
In a lot of ways Matt Jones was the anti-Johnny Manziel though. Manziel had all the swagger and force of will, just not any elite athletic abilities. Matt had plenty of swagger but the ambition and drive of a wet slug. He was lucky to be born with absolute elite athleticism, I'm not even sure he ...
