I've encountered this twice. Both times I just took the starter itself apart to get it out. Took apart the new one...and then reassembled it in place. It's way easier that way if it's an option...

Do people not shop around for parts? Autozone is literally the worst place you could go. Damn near any starter you can get online for 100 or less.
I've bought several of the (dB electrical) starters and alternators online for less than 100 bucks and they worked just fine. ...

Last total eclipse in the u.s for 44 years. This is the only one I'll see in my life time...much less directly over my house.

Boeing builds airplanes with a disturbing amount of jb weld. They don't call it jb weld....but that's what it is. I built thrust reversers and inlet cowls. I went through so much jb weld you wouldn't believe it. Got a inch wide gap in a fresh cut bond panel..smash down the honeycomb with a flat head...
