Thanks all, so to summarize: NG wells are bored by rigs; the more rigs in use, the more wells can be drilled. Assuming 30 operational rigs, potentially 300 or so wells could be drilled per year. Choke controls production..but what does the fraction imply? If you're a landowner is a larger or...

Can someone explain the relationship of a well to a section of land? Is there any hard-and-fast rule like: For each well drilled, the surrounding 640 acres get equal royalties on the production of the well. Something like that? I don't understand how they know what land the well is actually ...

Can someone explain (in real terms) what it means that Petrohawk has 275,000 acres under lease and plans on the board for 10 wells over the next 2 years? What does the 640 acre 'section' mean? Does that mean a well drilled will assume the 640 sq. acres around it are included in the royalties for...
