Auburn defensive back Jonathon Mincy managed to get himself thrown out of Auburn’s A-Day game for an illegal hit on a teammate. Mincy was officially ejected for ‘targeting.’ Targeting is a new NCAA enacted rule for 2013 which will eject any player who is flagged for a helmet-to-helmet hit.

The only trouble with this play is that he went hard on a teammate. The hit itself was fine. Hockey gets more and more attractive as more of this gets called.

If that's the common standard for "targeting" that results in ejections, we're in for a long fricking season of bullshite.

legit tackle. Hit him in the chest. No head involvement. Its football. vagina's need not apply. These rules are ruining the game Oh, and I hate Auburn.

Good clean hit, love the intensity. Youre supposed to go hard against your own teammates. If you dont practice hard, you wont play hard.

Can't wait until an LSU DB is ejected in the first quarter in Tuscaloosa. Can't frickING wait.

I agree with others. If that is the standard for targeting, it is going to be a crappy year of fouls and ejections. I saw nothing wrong in that hit. In fact I was fricking shocked when I saw it live that we could hit like that at all.

Good, clean hit. I can understand Auburn fans being upset with hitting that hard on a teammate in a spring game, but it is what it is. The only reason the WR was hurt was because of the way he landed. The DB should not have been penalized, and especially not ejected.

Just wait until a big time player does this and gets ejected causing his team to lose a close game. Fans will be screaming for a rule change.
