Where to stay in Nashville

I'm looking at going to Nashville to celebrate the 10 year anniversary and need some recs on where to stay/where to eat/ what to do.
I'd like to have things to do in walking distance so downtown looks good, but I'm not sure of the areas that are good as well as the ones to avoid.

When we went 2 years ago, we stayed at the Hampton Inn at the corner of Korean Veterans Blvd and 4th Ave South. There are several other hotels in that area as well - Omni is on the corner right across 4th, a Hyatt a block down and a block over (3rd and Molloy) and a Hilton Garden at Korean and 3rd.
From the Hampton we were walking distance to everything downtown - three blocks from Broadway. A block down and a block over to get to the CMHoF, four blocks from the Ryman, etc. The only driving we did was to go to the Opry out at Opryland and then to go to the Loveless. Everything else we did we walked.
Lots of food options on lower Broad. Some touristy - Margaritaville, Hard Rock, BB King's - but still good. We loved Jack's BBQ, which is on Broadway between 4th and 5th; the same strip as Tootsie's and Layla's.
Things to do are somewhat endless. CMHoF is nice (add the studio B tour). Johnny Cash museum is top notch. I have heard good things about the George Jones museum but it wasn't open when we were there. You can stop in just about any place on Broadway to hear music. Robert's Western World is pretty famous, and a lot of Nashville musicians have played in the house band before being picked up for studio work or going on the road with named acts. Shows at the Ryman are supposed to be spectacular; the acoustics are said to be perfect.
If you are in to history, check out the Civil War battlefields at Franklin and Stones River.

There's a Courtyard a block or so from the Ryman and Broadway. It's fine.
Hyatt is nice. Same building as the Country Music Hall of Fame. It's nice.

I really like the Hilton as it's nice and close to about everything.
