Planning to spend 5-7 days there this summer and with two small kids would like to have a home base for the duration of the trip.

Looking at house on VRBO or the like.

Is there a certain area that is the most central or easiest access to the main attractions of the park?

Lake Crescent is fricking amazing. If you can find a place on it, that is what I would suggest.

Also highly recommend going to La Push Beach #2 while you are out there. Absurdly gorgeous.

Yea we will have a 3 year old and 5 year old who will love Tide Pools. I saw La Push and Hole-In-The-Wall (Rialto Beach) were the two best places for them. Are they close to each other?

The 3 La Push beaches are close together and easy hikes

We didn't go to Rialto

Just watch the kids in the water...its cold even in the summer time

I think I went to 1st & 3rd beaches out of the La Push. Rialto I'm guessing is 1-1.5 hours away. Not too bad. Camped though, don't remember shite on the West side of the park in terms of housing and the like.

Crescent Lake is pretty awesome. I'm guessing it's at least 3 hours from any major attractions on the West side. One of my favorite NP's I've been too, pretty stark contrasts in terms of territory throughout the park

I went to Olympic this past summer. Assuming you are driving in from Seattle, I recommend hitting up Hurricane Ridge on the way in to the park then staying in Forks. We did that and made it to La Push/Second Beach, just outside Forks, for the sunset. Forks is more centrally located to the beaches and Hoh Rainforest. The next morning, we went to the rainforest then drove further south to Kalaloch Lodge and had a late lunch. From there we drove back north towards Forks and stopped at 4th Beach for low tide and sunset. You'll need to consult the tide tables for low tide so that the tide pools are exposed. The tides can be found online or from a ranger at the welcome center at Hurricane Ridge. We rented a cabin via airbnb. 5-7 days seems like a long time there to me. Check out the ferries to Friday Harbor if you want to try to fit in something else. We had a good time on San Juan Island.
