LOL
I got stuck on the mid bay bridge last month and I will be heading back to Orange Beach or points west of destin next summer.
My wife just cNt seem to get out of door before 11 no matter what.
Either leave early or arrive on a day other than Saturday seems to be the alternatives, but traffic was pretty rough all over destin even after we got there

It's the busiest weekend of the year in Destin. There's gonna be traffic headed down there.
Crab island is a must. More fun on weekends.
Play golf. Destin has a handful of beautiful courses.
Eat dinner and stay for late night drinks at Rum Runners in Sandestin. It's a dueling piano bar. Bring cash to bid your songs in. They'll play and sing anything and it gets pretty fun when the crowd starts to get loaded.
Dolphin cruise
And of course, enjoy your days on the beach

Just booked a direct flight on GloAir for $50 each way from Nola to Ft.Walton/Destin. If you have to have a car there, draw straws and have one person in the group bite the bullet and drive. The trip back home won't be that bad in the car.

Can't say I agree there...if you want somewhere to just hang on the beach you can save time and money with places like Ft Morgan or Orang Beach. I would think Destin bette suits those looking for more than just hanging on the beach.
I haven't stayed in Destin in years, but the water in infinitely better than Orange Beach (a place I probably go to for a long weekend every year). For some people, it's worth an extra hour-hour and half drive.

Pontoon boat to crab island is the only must do
question for anyone with experience renting the pontoon boats...
a friend of ours is renting a 26' bentley but it only has a 50hp outboard on it.
do you think it will pull the kids on a tube or maybe even be able to knee board behind it?
