I will be in Minneapolis in 3 weeks and have take care of some business Wed to Fri morning. Therefore, I will have Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sun morning open before departure at 5PM on Sunday back in MSP.

Would love to do some hiking and/or site seeing. A quick glance show that the north shore of Lake Superior has some good parks* north of Duluth.

*Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse and Silver Lake came up as places to visit in that area.

I've never been to Minnesota so any help on getting the most bang for the buck over 2 nights would be appreciated. And open to anywhere that doesn't require driving all day.

It’s been many years since I’ve been but Minnesota’s north shore is quite beautiful. Many large cliffs overlooking Lake Superior, waterfalls, and pretty good sized hills. Would assume foliage should be nice then too. If you have a couple of days, then that’s the area that would get my vote.

Thanks..given the time constraints I was hoping to hear this.

Look into Stillwater, MN. Otherwise, head north to the Duluth/Superior area.

I hiked at Gooseberry Falls a few years ago at Christmas Time. The North Shore on Superior is pretty. At Christmas it was completely snowed over, but at this time of the year I would think it should be nice.

I think I am hitting right on time. Link below is a "Fall Color" finder for all the State Parks and Gooseberry is almost at peak.

Absolutely the Lake Superior area. For the fella that asked about Wisconsin, in the same vicinity is Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. It’s wonderful.
