Asked the wife where should we like to go, she says Tulum, ruins and beaches. Any suggestions or experience there? Family of 5, kids ages 13,7, and 5. Thanks in advance.

Head to one of the surrounding cenotes for a day trip. Cenotes Casa Tortuga is a good one for a family day activity.

My experience in Tulum is that it is not targeted towards families or kids. My wife and I went before we had kids a few years ago and we had a great time. If we were bringing our kids we would look into other places. That being said, if you do end up going there I would agree to check out the cenotes.

Was trying to figure out how to answer OP but this is pretty accurate. We "lived" there for a couple months last year and, honestly, spent way more time in Centro than we did at the beach clubs / restaurants along beach road. What ever the choice, I struggled to see how kids would totally fit in outside of swimming in Cenotes and checking out ruins.

I am in tulum right now. Would not bring kids here. It’s great though.

I own a house right off of centro. Resort would probably be more fun with kids. I love tulum, though. Great vibe and nothing beats riding around like a madman in an ATV

Agreed. Stay in Xel-Ha with kids if you are hellbent on that area

There is a bus trip tour to an "authentic" mayan village. It's pretty cool. My (then) 16 yr old son liked it. Plus, by up all the mayan honey.. it's real good.
The ruins are fun.
The ruins are fun.
