If my wife and I got TSA pre-approval would we have to get it for our kids as well?

How old are the kids? I've been seeing TSA pre letting elderly and small kids through recently. I highly doubt they'd split you up from your kids if you went in the precheck line

My husband and I traveled with my in-laws over the summer and they had TSA Pre-check and we did not. We got our tickets printed and we both had Pre-check. We were told it is random but I think it was probably because we were with people who were pre-check. May never happen again but it was nice to get to use it. That happened for our flights both there and back.
