I am thinking about buying a Go Pro for a week long water expedition. What do y'all think of the quality of the short battery life compared to the HD quality of the camera aspect??

I love mine but it has its limitations. If you're going to go underwater, get the underwater housing part. You can get backup batteries for cheap from Amazon.

I would get the camera at least a month before your trip. Gives you enough time to play around with the Go Pro and get comfortable with it. And to know which mounts/accessories you want for it. You can spend more money that the camera itself on all the accessories for it.

I GoPro'ed a large part of the activities we did on the honeymoon. If you're going to film a lot, you'll need multiple batteries, as the battery life is subpar. I had 3, and that's what I'd recommend as a bare bones minimum. I made sure that all 3 were charged everyday.

Im heading to utah next month and plan on having mine the whole time. As others have said, get extra batteries from amazon.

I got one for my European trip and I kind of regret it, if you are doing only water you should be good, I used it when kayaking and snorkeling. but I brought it to soccer games and it didn't take the pictures or videos I wanted(zoom was an issue)
but like said it should be good for water activities. my next trip I will get a nice camera with good zoom though

They are making 40x optical zoom compact cameras now! Just bought Canon PowerShot SX720 HS. Only played around with it a few times so far but its impressive tech.
