It seems to be mentioned in a lot of different threads and from past searches so I thought I'd make a single thread about it. I'm considering going there for a honeymoon. We are both mid 20s and looking to relax, eat, drink, you know the usual.

For those who have been, can you please comment when you went, what your experience was like, and what room you choose. This informationwould help those of us who are considering going there.

Also, if you don't recommend excellence, then what other AI in Punta Cana would you recommend.

Thanks.

Just had a friend come back from a honeymoon from there 2 days ago. He said he had a good time. That's all I got. Maybe others will have better info

I haven't stayed at the Excellence, but I've heard only nice things from friends who have.

On my only trip to Punta Cana, I found a cheap deal at the Now Larimar. It's not quite as nice as the Excellence according to the experts, but was still a pretty solid resort in my opinion.

Going to the new one in October. Have been to one in Cancun. Really liked it. No kids

We went there for our Honeymoon in November of '14. We were very underwhelmed. The food was ok, no AC in the restaurants, I can remember sweat dripping onto my grilled lobster. It was partially being renovated when we were there so rooms were dated one pool was closed. First night we were there had an electricity blackout from 10pm to 5am room. It was miserable hot. Room AC couldn't keep up with humidity. Armed guards lurk in the shadows at night and the beach it lit up like Tiger Stadium at night so the locals don't rob you blind. We wouldn't go back.

TLDR-Wouldn't recommend.

went to PC in February but stayed down the road at the Hard Rock. Food was pretty meh to be expected at an all inclusive, but service and the actual resort were top notch.

If you're interested in doing an excursion, we went to Catalina island for snorkeling and lunch, booze, etc. which was a good time. Water out there is incredible.

I'm torn between this and Playa Mujeras but I like the pool and room layout better at Playa Mujeras so I'm stuck in limbo land not booking a damn thing.

The wife and I did a speedboat and snorkeling combo tour on our trip and enjoyed it as well if you are looking for other things to do off the resort property.
