Never been up that way and want to see some colors. Any suggestions and when is the best time to go?

Try Boothbay Harbor in September or October. Brown's Wharf Inn is a great place to stay. No chain hotels.

Go before the 2nd week of October, that is when everything starts to close for the season. The optimal time would be the 2nd half of September.

If you're interested in going to Vermont, out of New Orleans the best deals on flights were to Montreal (non stop) my wife and I did that for Mardi Gras a couple years ago.

How much of an ordeal is it to get into the US from Montreal, and back?

I just left maine. beautiful state. clearly alot of drug addicts in portland and probably in the rural parts though.

seems like an awesome place to have a summer home. You can actually enjoy the summer there. I was really surprised when I went to a "beach" and it was full of hundreds of pale white people.

Vermont is beautiful. Highly-recommend hitting Burlington. One of the most underrated spots in the country, in my opinion, especially in the fall months.

Burlington is a college town, home to the University of Vermont. Downtown Burlington features a pedestrian walkway called Church Street. There are a number of bars and restaurants along this street. What I love about these bars and restaurants is that a number of them commonly have Heady Topper on tap.

Burlington is also situated on Lake Champlain and you get a stunning view of the Adirondacks on the other side of the lake. To the east of Burlington are the Green Mountains. Depending where you are, the two best views come from Mount Mansfield and Camels Hump.

Not too difficult to see colors, either. The Champlain Valley isn't too far from Burlington, so you can hop into a car and explore.

I suggest looking at some Google images of each that I pointed out, but even that doesn't do it justice.

Not sure when the falls colors would be best. I was in Vermont and New Hampshire end of September two years ago and it was too early for the leaves. Just depends on the year. NEe Hampshire, Maine or Vermont are all great.

Burlington vt has a great bar area as well as Manchester NH. Mountains and hiking everywhere.
