We're driving up to Fayetteville to stay with some friends for Thanksgiving and was thinking about maybe staying in Hot Springs that Monday and Tuesday night and renting a cabin.

Any suggestions? It'll be me, the wife and our 4 year old.

Doesn't have to be Hot Springs. I see on the State Park website that there's about 50 parks on the way.

TIA

Mt. Magazine State Park has fantastic cabins, scenery and trails. Dining and other activities are much more limited than Hot Springs though.

Check out Lake Ouachita and Petit Jean State Parks. Petit Jean is going to offer the more secluded, rustic, cabin-in-the-woods type feel with lots of trails and waterfalls, but dining options are extremely limited. Ouachita is naturally more geared toward lake season, but Hot Springs does have more dining and sight seeing options.

Devil's Den was a favorite when I was growing up, but it's right outside Fayetteville, so you might not want to go all the way there. Nice trails and caves to explore.

I like the idea of being in the mountains during the winter vs. the lake.

Check out Petit Jean, see if cabins are open in the winter.

Just to add a few more to the list. Mt. Nebo is between Mt. Magazine and Petit Jean and it has great trails and cabins too. Devil's Den isn't too far from Fayetteville either and it's a beautiful place to stay.
