St. Louis--getting around

Metro Link? Taxi? Rent car? Staying for a couple days downtown for a Cards game, Busch brewery, Arch but also want to go to Cathedral Basilica and Forest Park, a little further out. Thanks for any suggestions!

Uber is the way to go. Metro Link is fine WHEN during a cards game, and not late at night, just dont take the line that goes north of Forest park.
Renting a car is also possible, but because of how much we drink, it becomes difficult.
Also Forest Park and cathedral are close to downtown, maybe an $8-10 uber trip.

I used to live near the Central West End MetroLink stop (across from Forest Park and around the corner from the Basilica). Took it to the airport and downtown all the time. Uber should get you anywhere else you want to go.

So is metro from airport to hotel downtown and back the way to go? I'll uber in between.

exactly, just don't get off at any stop between. and make sure its not late at night.

Depending on how far your hotel is off of the line, that's what I would do. But I lived there before Uber, so that wasn't an option. I don't think you could go wrong either way (unless you're arriving/departing at a high traffic time of day, then the Metro could save you some time).

Are the Loop to CWE's stations bad now?

No that's fine. Just anything north of forest Park is not good.

Yeah, I got lost driving a few times in that North STL. Scared the crap out of myself the first time I tried to find Crown Candy Kitchen - and this was back in the 90's!

I still have never made it there. I would love to try it sometime.

You gotta go at least once.
The last time I visited, I used Google to get there and discovered it was right off of 70! Let's just say my original MapQuest printout from back in the day took me on a far less scenic route from the CWE!

I'd advise taking Uber. It's super cheap when traveling around the city. And I believe it's only $30 or so from the airport to downtown, as opposed to a cab which will run closer to $55-$60.
Personally, I'd steer clear of taking the Metrolink. There have been some incidents over the past year which has led them to beef up security on it. Most likely you'll be fine taking it, but why chance it for a $30 Uber ride?
