Hello friends. My little family and a few other families with either no kids or kids under 6 years old go on summer vacation together every summer. We rent a beach house each fall, so the beach is out.
This year we have a ranch rented in Texas with a tubing river on the property.

Usually we're just somewhere cool to hang out privately, with a good view, with a few activities close by. We like to cook on our own, so being close to town doesn't matter. Looking for something new that would fit our group, for next summer.
We do bring a babysitter to help with the babies, so that grants some freedom. Im thinking Arkansas houseboat, but am open to other ideas. Let's here em. Thanks
Btw, we're in Baton Rouge and would like to stay under a 10 HR drive.

It's been several years, but we rented a houseboat on Lake DeGray and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had my uncle's ski boat for zipping around the lake. Slept 12-14, hot tub on top, slide off the back. I'd do it again with a big group.

Hot Springs is about a 45 minute drive away and Crater of Diamonds State Park is about 45-60 minutes away.

Houseboating on Oauchita Lake is awesome.

will require a good deal of supervision around water. May want to wait until they are a bit older, but I don't know your kids.

You can rent houseboats on almost every lake, some lakes are just better and more well known for it. I've never done it for a week but I've been on plenty of houseboats and liveaboards. I think kids would absolutely have a blast and it would be a great vacation.

As said, one thing to seriously consider is how well your kids swim and their safety. Life vests obviously, but a life vest 24/7 for a week is going to be a pita to keep on a kid.
