Besides my seconding of the Zucca recommendation, we also dined at Bar Pontini! Glad you knew the name, because I had forgotten it (2 years ago now). And, yes I also enjoyed the squid pasta.
My other advice for Venice: Forget trying to follow directions on your phone. Download a good compass app to it, locate the destination on your map, and keep turning N, E, S, or W until you get to it. You'll never see the "street" name you're looking for and you won't believe that you are supposed to walk through a 30" wide alley way to get where you want to go!

The best meal we had on our entire Italy trip was at Osteria Al Portego. The menu changes daily based off fresh catch that day. The squid ink pasta was unreal. It is a very small place. We walked in the evening before and made a reservation for next day.
