My best recommendation would be taking this to the travel board before politics enters the chat.

What are your interests? What part of town? If dt see below

LINK

Barton Creek greenbelt if you like to hike and hang with locals.

West 6th if you like bars and restaurants.

There's also a whiskey tour in dripping springs.

Salt lick bbq and vista brewing is also a fun day trip.

Tube the Guadalupe.

Eat at Matt's El Rancho on south Lamar.

Etc.

West Sixth is an absolute trash can. East Sixth and Rainey is the answer.

Lazarus and Nickel City are great spots but a little too hipster for my tastes. Rainey is a joke.

AGBG and Black Sheep for me. I prefer south Austin. But trying to answer the question and give options.

Only if you want completely average food.

Curras for the win

Nickel City

90% tourist bar

Rainey street or if you want local hangouts, Drinks and Long Play on east Cesar Chavez and Little Darlin and Cosmic cafe in south Austin. Launderette in east Austin is a good, laid back farm to table restaurant. Breakfast or lunch tacos at Granny's food truck or Valentina's is south Austin for bbq tacos but probably a line

Donn’s Depot is a great spot for drinks and dancing. it’s a really unique place and my favorite bar in the city.

South Congress is fun to walk around during the day. And Barton springs pool is a can’t miss

I'm saving this thread to reference back to, we're going this weekend as well.

So far on one night we're going to Las Perlas, then to Small Victory, then have dinner reservations at ATX Cocina. Definitely going to Terry Blacks probably on Friday then do some day drinking. Karting at COTA and Barton Springs was also on the list.

Not a bar or restaurant but if you’re in the neighborhood of Franklin’s and Terry Black’s, go to the French Legation and learn something about history.

Then drive out to Longhorn Cavern State Park and learn something about geology.

Not anymore. The whole place is lined with high rises and hotels.
