Wanting to try and VRBO a cabin in the Smokey Mountain areas when we go up to Knoxville for the game. Are there any areas up there that I need to avoid because of the wildfires last year? Which area is better for views and things to do? I have a 5-6yo boy that I'd like to bring to the Ober snow tubing, maybe the mountain coaster, etc. What other activities are good for kids and not to pricey, or at least worth the buck.

There should be 10+ results if you run a search here. PF is a hot topic on this board.

I always use this guy when I go to Gatlinburg. I do know some of his cabins were lost to the fires but he's always been great to work with and will be upfront with you. Here is one of his listings.

His property is a 5 minute drive to downtown.

Use to go on family vacations to that area as a kid from Lake Charles.

Told my wife this weekend i want to do an old school road trip next fall/winter and i want to go through Chattanooga and ride the trolley to the top of Lookout Mountain, then rent a cabin in Gatlinburg and take the kids tubing.

Great memories

I took my two oldest on an extended road trip this past summer, hitting Gatlinburg, Washington D.C., and NYC. We did three nights "primitive" tent camping with the river maybe 40' away and I swear I slept better on that sleeping bag with the noise of the river and the cool air than I did in the plush hotels in D.C. or NYC.
