Old Town / Alexandria VA-- Anything for 12 & 14 yr olds to do?

Trying to decide to stay here one afternoon and night or go Navy Yards area and go to a 4pm Nats game. We will have until about 3pm the next day before moving on with the trip. Is there enough to keep kids interested in Alexandria? What about the navy Yards area?

There is a lot of history in Old Town eg Robert E Lee's boyhood home and there are some cool bars and restaurants. May be boring for kids but it's a cool place

Navy Yards area has a waterfront promenade/park with fountainslots of condos, some shops, and a well known ice cream spot, Ice Cream Jubilee.
