Planning a trip to NYC during Christmas time. Does anyone have suggestions of areas to stay or specific hotels? TIA

There are countless threads on here if you search NYC. my best advice is plan where you want to go and what you want to see and do and then book a hotel on a subway line that will most easily get you to and from. Generally speaking, stay out of Times Square if possible. You're far better off staying further south.

We stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn on 48th Avenue I believe. It was not pricey but was comfortable and clean. We loved the location.

There is no way any helpful information can be given if you don't mention what you:

A. Plan on seeing
B. Plan on spending
C. Do you know how to use the subway
D. Call a taxi
E. And the list goes on and on.

If you really want helpful information you need to do you part.

Have a nice day.

I stayed at the lotte New York palace, it is directly across the street from st Patrick's cathedral and a block from Rockefeller center. It is also near a subway line and walking distance from Central Park, maybe not in the winter.

Hilton Midtown was nice. Close to Central Park but be prepared to walk. A lot.
