I am looking for suggestions of some local restaurants to eat while visiting Paris in July. I am staying around the Lourve in the First Arrondissement. Any recommendations are welcome.

We spent a week in Paris in April and stayed in the 1st. Arr. There are many great restaurants in the Palais Royale area which is a short walk from the Louvre and your hotel. We ate at two restaurants in the Palais Royale itself: Le Grand Vefour and Verjus. Vefour is a Michelin two star and can be very expensive at night but they have 115 Euro lunch specials. We had a fantastic 3 1/2 hour lunch there. It is a beautiful and historic restaurant that has been there since 1798. We sat at Napoleon and Josephine's table. Verjus is right across the courtyard. They have a set tasting menu and the food is fabulous. Juvenile's is right across the street. This is a small, casual bistro/wine bar with very good food. A few blocks away on Rue du Mail is Chez George, one of our favorite upscale bistros. Another good bistro in the 1st. is Chez Monsieur near La Madeline church.

Not sure if these are "Must do" but I would recommend the following:

Le Comptoir du Relais in St. Germaine (solid lunch spot)
Go to Gerald Mulot for dessert in St. Germaine

Café Constant near Eiffel Tower

Cafe Panis near Notre Dame

We stayed at the Hotel Regina and either walked or Metro-ed to everything...love that city.

Vefour sounds like a great spot. Lots of historic value. We might try it for lunch one day. All of these places are very close to our hotel. It's nice to have eat dinner at some restaurants close to the hotel especially after a long day of walking the city. Thanks for the comment!

The best meal I ever had in my life was at Guy Savoy. We ate there twice when it was near the Arc du Triumphe but they recently moved to the Left Bank by the river which is near your hotel. They used to have lunch specials but I don't know if they do anymore. We ate at Le Cinq a few years ago on our anniversary and it was incredible.

A few notes about Chicken's recommendations: We stayed at the Westin which was just down the block from the Regina. Great location. A few years ago we stayed for a week in an apt. about 2 blocks from Le Comptoir and G. Mulot. That is a great neighborhood in the 6th. One of our favorite things to do when the weather is nice is to get take out crepes from L' Avant Comptoir, the crepe stand and wine bar next to Le Comptoir and have a picnic at the nearby Luxembourg Gardens. For dessert we bring macarons from Gerald Mulot. If we could get macarons like that at home I would weigh 300 lbs. We also like to go to Café Constant. It is on rue St. Dominique which is one of our favorite restaurant rows in Paris. Some other great restaurants near there are Le Fontaine du Mars, Le Fables de Fontaine, Chez L'Ami Jean, Le Violin de Ingres and Au Bon Accueil.

So far I have dinner planned for Cafe Constant, Le Colimacon, Le Jules Verne, and Chez Michel. Any other must do restaurants would be greatly appreciated. I've traveled to Paris three times, but I am bringing my Italian parents for the first time. So, I am trying to give them the best experience of Paris before we head over to Rome.

L'Avant Comptoir is the shite. Great little place.

L'Ami Jean for sure.

Septime

Du Pain et des Idees for bread/bakery items. Maybe the best in the world.

Spring

Le Chateaubriand

G Mulot for patisserie

L'As Du Fallafel

Thanks for the comment. I ended up canceling my lunch reservation to Jules Verne...it is overpriced in my opinion. The reviews aren't great either.

My favorites in Paris are below:

Regis Huiterie, which is a fantastic oyster bar. 2 kinds of oysters on the menu, salted butter, mignonette, bread, maybe sea urchin if they have it, and lots of cold white wine - thats it. If you like oysters, check it out (funny hours though).

L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon - incredible food, service and wines. Expensive but very worth it. Its high end food but very simple and the whole restaurant is build around open kitchen.

Da Rosa - Great little spot for charcuterie, cheese, snacks and the like.

All of the above are close to where you are staying.

Also like Le Baron Rouge - its a post market winebar located near the Bastille.

Chez Michel- fantastic bistro up near Montmartre (which personally I didnt love).

Yes my hotel was about a block away. Great place. It was very good.

I still prefer Gulf oysters by a long way.

Yeah I personally would probably never go back to Montmartre and spend any time there.

It kind of sucks.

It's not one of the cutting edge trendy Michelin starred places, but it's badass for the history and their cheese course alone. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it and I would recommend it for lunch.
