Madrid, Barcelona, and Florence Trip

I'm doing a mostly solo trip in mid February visiting the cities mentioned above.
Ive been looking at previous travel threads but wanted to see if anyone had any additonal recs/suggestions on my itinerary and on things to do/places to eat, esp if there is something unique/seasonal going on in February.
I'm in my mid 20's, single guy, and first time traveling abroad solo!
I'm planning on spending the following amount of time in each city:
1. Madrid - 2 nights
- staying at Cats Hostel
Catching a Train to Barcelona
2. Barcelona - 3 nights
- staying at Arts Hotel 1 night, need lodging for the other two nights
Flight to Florence
3. Florence - 4 nights
- No lodging booked yet
- meeting a buddy for the wknd
- Should I try to go to Tuscany or another small city near by for 1 night?
Thanks for any suggestions!

We spent a few days in Florence last spring. We took a full day trip with a tour group on chartered bussses from Florence to Siena, a wine estate, San Gimignano, Pisa, and back to Florence LINK. It was great.
We loved eating at Bar Pasticceria Cucciolo LINK. The food is awesome, very reasonably priced, and the family that runs it is really nice. There are some great gelato shops right down this street as you walk towards the Piazza della Repubblica.
You have to go to Piazzale Michelangelo and take in the panoramic view of the city.
There is a hop on hop off bus that will take you to a lot of the must see sites LINK
Hope you have a great trip

Awesome thanks rrgtiger. The full day tour looks perfect, think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on that!

Airbnb has some great rates for a night or two, think like 15 a night to rent a single bedroom or 60 for an apartment

Two years ago, stayed in a hotel across the street from the Madrid train station. We were glad that we took the time to find the proper entrance to the trains the day before since we were catching an early train. it wasn't obvious where you had to enter to go through security. Look for the entrance at street level with the giant baby head sculpture. The entrance is near there.

Bump for OP's question about four nights in Florence. Would it make sense to spend some of this in the countryside/small town outside of Florence (I think so?)? Would it make sense to spend all four outside of the city and day trip into Florence?

I love Florence.....four days in the city is great, but you have to be a fan of art, renaissance architecture, history, etc. It's not a go-go-go kinda place, but it does have immensely rich cultural treasures. I wouldn't cut out overnighting in Florence and day tripping in....I'd spend at least two nights in the city, simply to enjoy a couple of dinners w/plenty of wine without driving back to lodgings.
The hill towns of Tuscany are equally interesting, but can be on the small side. OP doesn't mention how he's arriving in Florence...if flying into Rome, there are some great side trip opportunities between Rome & Florence. Orvieto is an interesting Etruscan hilll town, and the small town of San Casciano die Bagni has natural hot springs baths, several with hot outdoor pools open at night.

Similar question. I'll be in Barcelona for about 30 hours in mid-March (going to Rome for a week and figured I'd hop over for a night). Anything I'd be upset if I missed?
