So, since next week there will be a flock of people heading to the metroplex, I'm going to give ya'll a guide of things to do, places to eat, etc. for your time here. I'm only going to make a guide for Fort Worth, so if you are planning on not staying, or not making it this way, then might not want to read.

I know, TL,DR whateva

Bars

There are a lot of great bars in the city. I'll give you a list of the most popular around town.

7th street

The Capital

The Reservoir
Chimy's
Fred's
Lucky Strike
Durty Crow
Max's Wine Dive

My two favorite bars are The Capital and Reservoir, but all the others are great. BTW, Lucky Strike is a bowling alley, but it has a great bar.

Downtown

Flying Saucer
Pete's Piano Bar
Frankie's Sports Bar

The Flying Saucer is in Sundance Square, and that is a great area to walk around. I've always been a fan of downtown.

Stockyards

Billy Bob's

White Elephant
Thirsty Amardillo
Filthy McNasty's
The Basement Bar

TCU Area

The Aardvark
The Bottom

Honestly, TCU area doesn't have that many places in terms of bars.

Restaurants

7th Street

Fireside Pies
Fred's
Terra Mediterranean
Patrizio's
La Familia
Rodeo Goat
Angelos
Blue
Gloria's

There are a lot of places on 7th. You can walk around and you won't make a bad decision. They recently built up the area about 5-6 years ago, and it's been booming ever since.

Downtown

Reata
The Capital Grille
Mi Cocina
P.F. Changs
Texas de Brazil
Mercury Chophouse
Taverna
Grace

Stockyards

Coopers

Joe T's*

Love Shack**
Esperanza's
Lonesome Dove**

I never really make it to the Stockyards, so I'm not really sure what other places you can eat at.

TCU Area

Woodshack**
Fuzzy's Taco (Original on Berry)
Buffalo Brothers
Dutch's
Yogi's***

Magnolia

Benitos
-My favorite Mexican in town. Get the Tamales Oaxaquenos if you ever do go
Ellerbe's
Cat City Grill
Mamma Mia
Yucatan Taco Stand

*Joe T's does not have the best Tex-Mex in Fort Worth, don't even think it's close. You go for the atmosphere though. The patio is huge, and you can really get lost in there. Also, ONLY BRING CASH. They don't accept any other payments other than cash.

**These are owned by Tim Love. He's appeared on Iron Chef and Top Chef on the Food Network.

***This is my go to Sunday spot. Get the migas, I can't describe how good they are.

Others Places

Kinkaid's on Camp Bowie
-Really neat place, converted 50's grocery store into a burger joint.
Chicken Express
-Two words, corn nuggets
Zeke's
-They fry pretty much everything
Uncle Julios
Melis Taco's on Vickery
-Seriously, the best street tacos I've had.
Railhead
-BBQ , one of my favorites in town
Mexican Inn
Drew's Place
Flying Fish
Pappasito's / Pappa's Burgers

Recreation

Fort Worth Zoo
-They've been promoting the baby elephant pretty hard
Museum of Science and History with Imax theater

Fort Worth Botanical Garden

Modern Art Museum / Amon G. Carter Museum / Kimbell Art
The Stockyards
-You can ride on this bad boy if he's around. As in ride, I mean sit on the saddle.

Sid Richardson Museum downtown
-you can get some great prints of the west (maybe a little overpriced)
Fort Worth Water Gardens

If you want to play golf, go to this website:

I left out some bars and restaurants to keep the thread a reasonable length.

Enjoy

Good job

The Lonesome Dove might not be open due to a fire a couple of days ago. Other than that, I can't wait to see all the purple and gold take over DFW.

Really? Damn, that's my favorite place in the stockyards. Hope it does open, but it's not like Love will be hurting

I don't think it was a bad fire from what I've read. It's my favorite place in the Stockyards as well.

Good info. Downtown FW is one of the best-kept secrets around. Lots of good hotels, great restaurants & bars.

Big D gets most of the attention, but give me Cowtown any day.

Plus, downtown is an extremely safe area for people with kids.

Don't think Dallas has anything that can match Sundance Square....

Nice write up!

Joe T's has excellent food. But the choices are limited. fajitas or enchiladas. If you know what you are doing though go ahead and order lots of extra nachos and maragitas on the rocks, and sit by the pool.

Hoffbrau Steak House on University is a great place for steak and all the trimmings. One of the best steaks that will ever touch your mouth.

Luciles on camp bowie serves a pretty damn good brunch, good lunch, and has one hell of a cherries jubillee.

For those wanting a truly amazing brunch on Sunday check out the brunch at the Worthington Hotel.

For late night food after partying and a little TCU flair head over to Ol'South Pancake house and enjoy a big plate of frog fries (fries with chilli and cheese) or the signature german pancakes or dutch babies.

Good list overall though.

Good info,

One of my favorite places to grab a burger downtown is Jakes. Also check out Mi Cocina which is a pretty good Mexican food place. If you are looking for a fine texas cuisine, definitely check out Reata. Great food and they also have a roof top bar.

7th street is definitely the place to go out. Capital in particular, always has a live band and is a lot of fun.

Definitely, 7th will be the most popular to go out, and downtown will be more relaxed.

Just added yogis to the list, my favorite brunch spot in town and not too far from the tcu area.

Agreed about Lucile's, their chicken fried steak is probably the best in town
