Last minute flight deals

I don't travel much but I just got an extra ticket to the Wisconsin game for my little brother.
Flights are outrageous almost double what I paid a month or so ago. Nav Travellers have any tricks up your sleeve? Website I should go to besides Orbitz or Expedia? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Find Thursday from New Orleans to Chicago and then back to New Orleans on Sunday.
So I guess the problem is the dates arent flexible. So therein lies the problem I suppose

I'm guessing you can't leave early Sunday morning from Chicago, but that's the cheapest at $459. The latest reasonable time and reasonable price is $514 roundtrip and that leaves Chicago at 9:04am.
ETA: Can he leave from Baton Rouge or Gulfport instead of Nola? Gulfport is at $330 roundtrip, Baton Rouge $457. Times are much better as well

are his times flexible, since his dates aren't? maybe try Priceline's name your own price.
I've done that before for a round trip flight from Houston to NYC just 2 days in advance.
