Kids have a dance thing there, staying at Circus Circus (most non OT-baller. lol) I'm looking for some things to do while they are doing that. I don't like o gamble much.
Won't have a car.
Also want a really good dinner. I haven't been to Vegas since I was ten.

Circus Circus has an awesome steakhouse.

me and my wife went there at the beginning of august and we did and saw a lot of stuff. We ate at the Top of the World restaurant (Stratosphere).
We went down to Freemont St and had a good time.
The Paris hotel and casino was pretty sweet. We went to the top of the Eiffel Tower there.
We enjoyed going to Caesars Palace, that place was pretty amazing.
There is tons of stuff to do there. Keep in mind nothing is cheap on the strip.

You can take a tour bus out to Hoover Dam and it is a really cool tour. Make sure to go into the Venetian as well, the whole place is amazing.

Went in July what we did that we enjoyed:
"O" at the Bellagio
Zumanity at NYNY - DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE
High Roller open Bar
Walked the strip and looked at the hotels
Went to the bar at the top of the Stratosphere (107) floors up
NYNY Roller Coaster
What we wanted to do but didnt get to:
Penn and Teller (cancelled the show)
Red Rock Canyon
Some Ice Bar where everything is frozen
check out Vegas.com

How long are you staying/how much time do you have without the kids?
I like:
- people watching with a drink at the Petrossian Bar in the Bellagio lobby. (this is where I usually start)
-walking around Caesar's forum shops.
-walking around Venetian.
-having a drink or dinner at Foundation Room on top of Mandalay Bay (I think it's the best view in town)
You can throw a rock and hit 10 amazing places to have dinner. Every celebrity chef you've heard of has a restaurant or 4 in town. My favorite restaurant in Vegas (possibly the US) is Il Mulino in Caesar's forum shops. For what you get it's a damn bargain. I also like Thomas Keller's place Bouchon at Venetian because it's a good property to fart around before or after.

You should have a few hundred bucks and learn to play one of the table games. I recommend craps. You might end up liking it and might win money too.

I want to do red rock canyon. Am also looking at flying over grand canyon. ($500 for the plane for an hour, less if I can get checked out on it and borrow it without the pilot)
Really want to see what places are cool on the strip.
The only thing that bums me out is this is my second time in Vegas and I am at the same hotel I was at in 1990. That's where the kid's thing is.
I want to check out Fremont and Stratosphere as well.

I used to have a gambling problem, but I got over it. Now I take everything I want to spend that day and bet on red, if I lose, I'm done, if I win I play on.
I can shoot craps, I know how to stay on a table for a while. That's my go-to cruise time waster.

Plenty of shows to choose from. Check out vegas.com . If you're looking for daytime entertainment, just walking the strip will get you to a lot of great casinos. Even if you don't gamble, go inside and check out the décor. Each one is fabulous. If you're a fan of reality TV, you can go to Count's Kustoms or to Gold and Silver Pawn, the home of Pawn Stars. Freemont Street is great for people watching. Especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Night time is better because of the lit ceiling. A tour to the Grand Canyon is awesome. Usually includes a pass by Hoover Dam. Eat at Taco El Gordo if you want some good original tacos. Gets crowded but he line moves fast. Fountains at Bellagio, volcano at The Mirage at night. Lots of free entertainment.

The Mob Museum located downtown is pretty sweet. Tickets run for roughly $15-20 or so. Show wise, can't recommend Cirque de Soleil: LOVE enough. Mike Hammer's Comedy Magic Show at the Four Queens is great, and kid friendly.
Gold and Silver Pawn Shop is somewhat run down, but has lots of neat stuff in there. If you go, make sure you ask them if they have Battletoads.
