Kids want to see snow - Trip ideas during Mardi Gras?

My kids (8 & 10) have really expressed interest in wanting to see snow. Outside of going skiing or to a ski resort, any good places to travel to during Mardi Gras that would allow them to see snow but also be family friendly with some things to do?

If flying, go to Colorado or Utah.
If you can only afford driving, drive up to a ski resort with snow-making capabilities in eastern North Carolina (Ski Beech or Sugar Mountain, for examples).
Otherwise, there is no guarantee of "seeing snow".
Most ski towns and ski resorts also have sledding and skating activities, they can make a snowman, etc. in addition to skiing or snowboarding. You can rent a condo or a house, Air BnB style.

We went to the continental divide at the end of June and there was still snow up on the mountaintops. This was in Colorado, near Salida.

Seattle, Reno, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Minneapolis, Chicago, New Hampshire, Vermont, Boston, Cincinnati, Louisville.
If you’re not used to driving on snow, fly in and choose a place where it’s easy to Uber or has good transit.

Thanks for the advice, BRich. Some of those ski towns in Colorado seem like great options.

That's a good age for them to start skiing. If you are going to be in and see snow I would might as well get them on a mountain to let them learn to ski.

I’ve been to Rocky Mountain National Park at least a dozen times and there has always been snow. 90 minute drive from Denver.

Don’t exactly feel like dropping a grand on ski gear for us and them (that they’ll quickly outgrow) but might if there are places to rent some ski stuff and we are there. Leaning toward Colorado.

When the kids were younger and growing, we bought the cheap stuff off Amazon. You can get a kids jacket and pants for $80
We would also trade out with other families that have different age kids.

Fly into Bozeman and do snowmobile or snow coach tours of Yellowstone.

Took our kids to Whistler years ago. Flew into Vancouver. Got to tour the city, aquarium etc. Rented a car. Easy drive. Maybe under 2 hours. Would highly recommend looking into flights there.

Jackson Hole. Snowmobile tour, Old Faithful, elk refuge. Very inexpensive.

My kids wanted to see snow a few years ago. They were 3/6 at the time. We went to Park City. We’d spend time at the resort, they’d find places to play in the snow. Went tubing and ice skating. They had a great time without skiing. Indoor pool. Took the shuttle down to town at night for dinner/shop. 30-45 minute Uber from SLC.

North Carolina (Ski Beech or Sugar Mountain,
Beech in February you’ll typically see real snow. Sometimes there will be a few inches on Beech and nothing on Sugar. You could stay on Beech and still be within 20 minutes of Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway, Banner Elk, and Sugar Mountain and within 30-45 minutes of Boone and Blowing Rock.

Red River New Mexico is a nice small town with a small ski resort also Gatlinburg TN has a ski resort call Ober. Very small, only about 3-4 trails and there is a lot of stuff to do there and in Pigeon Forge. Colorado is not a bad choice, lots of snow and choices of resorts. My personal favorite is Keystone, they have night skiing.

Last time I saw snow during Mardi Gras it was in Washington DC. We had a blizzard that shut everything down for a couple of days.
